I have a crosscheck and am thinking of changing the bars from the stock drops to something else. I have seen a lot of single and fixed crosschecks run various bars (like mustache and bullhorns), but I haven't seen a lot of other configurations.
What are sme other ways one could set up a geared crosscheck (with bar end shifters) other than with drop bars?

Bar-end shifters will work in just about any bar. I have had mine in drops and bullhorns. The only thing you might want to avoid is a flat bar, as they will be some hard to get to.

You could do a flat bar with the Paul thumbies.

cool thing about those paul thumbies is that they come in both mtn and road bar diameters...

I'll be building up a cc this fall with the intent that offseason it will be my townie. I'm going with nitto albatross or promenades since i think those look cool and uprightish?? Another thought was to go somafab.com bars.. i think they have road specific ones that allows you to insert bar ends.

You could also convert your bar end shifters to install on the downtube shifter bosses, which would allow you to use any type of mountain bike bar.

Supposedly they fit Campy barcons. I've got a project in mind if they do.

I have some really nice friction suntour levers that i'm probably going to go the paul thumbie route. If that gets too expensive, I'll probably throw them on my shimano barcon mounts ala www.rivbike.com.
