I'm hosting riders from Team Kahala Lagrange and will be racing Sunday morning in the 30+ cat5.

I'll be there. How much does it cost for cat 3 day-of registration?
I'm housing Team Revolution womens cycling team.

am racing Sat. Would love to do the TT but too much $$ for me. I work about 1 block away from all of it.

This is the second time you hosted a women's team!! Is that luck or do you request it?

Jpradun, you sly dog you...
I'm in, cat 4.
I've seen the course map, but can anyone tell me how long it is from the final turn to the finish? (not the bend, but the actual turn)
word. thanks.

I think it is 400 - 500 meters. I've riden this twice and it seems the finish is always further away than you think.

I'm probably gonna be there for the 3's. I said I was gonna be done after superweek, but I'm a sucker for fun looking races with tons of prize money.

The sprint is closer to 700m from the final turn. It's basically 3 sprints in one. When I won a $100 prime there last year, it was almost 1min of huge power. We were doing probably 36-37mph for 45sec. BLEW me up for the finish.
This is actually the 500th time I hosted a womens team. They come down for superweek, elk grove, downers grove every year.
We skip the whole requesting a team business and just have their phone #'s, and vice versa.
DOH! For some reason, I thought this was at the end of August - not the beginning. No wonder I saw those teams riding around this AM. I'll show up in the AM to take pics!

Hey Psimet - If and when I finalize my order with you, maybe we can close the TX near where you work? I live in Addison - two towns south. :D

Crazy race. RPE was way higher than Chicago Crit; but the actual race was 35w lower (ave). Those damn sprints out of every turn hurt. Rain began after the start, made it a but more nuts. really nice event, I'm glad I made it.
finished 4th--2nd in the field sprint. missed the podium by 1/2 a wheel. beat 5th by 1/2 wheel. tight finish.

All jadedness aside...i was pretty lucky. My chin was literally the first thing to hit. It happened right in front of the EMT's and they were pretty worried initially because of how quickly my head snapped back up.
That xXx guy in the three's got it much worse...he was in the room next to me.
It was an ugly day out there, i was the first in the ER, but by the time i left there were 4 there and another on the way.

I'm confident i would have been on the podium. My breathing was calm, my legs were strong, my position was perfect...except for the part where i was next to a guy who went down.

So it's a good thing the title sponsor is the local hospital?
Heal up quick.

That was me, sitting in the grass eating the coffee cake, fyi.
And, from my point of view (sitting in the grass, eating a coffee cake), it was a pretty decent day.
Best thing about it is that I've decided there's NO way I'm doing the 35+ 3/4 race tomorrow.

I asked them if it was a scam...they didn't think it was funny.
I asked them if it was a scam...they didn't think it was funny.
Hospital people deal with too many "real" weirdos to find humor in the comments of weirdos like us.
One time I went to the ER with what I was pretty certain was food poisoning. Although, when the lady asked me what was wrong I inadvertantly told her I was dying of mad cow. Long story short, when the doctor finally showed I had to listen to him babble on and on about how I don't have mad cow despite my repeated efforts to tell him that I didn't have mad cow.
I guess the moral of the story is don't crash or get mad cow.
So it's a good thing the title sponsor is the local hospital?
Okay, that's funny right there.
Okay, maybe not.
But, do heal well otherwise.

About what time? If you're pulling a trailer, I may just be able to keep up. ;) The misses wanted to ride tomorrow though, so we'll see.

I am leaving in a little bit with my old man, we are going to bring our cruisers and chillax out there all day. Caught the pro race yesterday. Man were they fast, even in the rain. That poor Jelly Belly guy. He had a huge lead, goes down in the rain, gets back up, still in the lead, only to bite it a lap later and lose it all :(
Then they were saying in one of the crashes, cyclists were up on the sidewalks racing. Now that is some exciting stuff!
I had to help a friend move in the morning so that is why I missed so much. Not today, I am going to head out soon, hope to see some of you there!

meh, you youngsters...
looking back on it, I think my RPE was so much higher because of a piss poor 10 min warmup.
Hey timmy, I hope you heal up quick.
Yeah, I head the xxx guy in the 3s slammed his forehead on the curb. One of his teammates was saying that he keeps his helmet straps really loose and that his helmet probably slipped back on his head exposing his noggin to the curb. Sounds really bad. I wish him well.

I recently started wearing my helmet a little tighter than I had been. Good thing too, i'm not sure my chin would have bounced off the concrete as nicely if my helmet was loose. I wouldn't worry too much about me, i'd be racing next weekend if i was in town...but that xXx guy looked knarly.

Adding to the crash fest I hit the deck today during our Sunday group ride. :wtf:
Every f'n race I've been in I was able to avoid the carnage just to go flying on gravel during a left hand turn on a group ride. Helmets = best invention since sliced bread.

I'm going to start wearing mine on my chin, because my helmet didn't do much for me yesterday.
