Kind of a long post. I was into bicycles growing up. My parents bought me a Schwinn Predator Free Form Z I think I rode that bike 2000 miles in three summers. After high school I bout a Trek Antelope 820, Then a Cannondale M400 my second year of college. I also worked in a bike shop selling and repairing bicycles in high school/college. I did not ride at all from 1997 (college grad year) to 2004. In 1998 I started working for a big seafood restaurant, taking care of their IT infrastructure and got big and fat. In the last five years I have rode on and off many times buying many, many new bikes not losing any weight just spending money. I am 6’ tall and 300 I have lost 15 pounds since may 2nd.
Currently I am am riding a 2004 Giant Yukon Disc with complete Deore drive train and a New 2007 Cannondale Synapse 3 I have removed the adjustable stem and suspension seatpost.

I ride 8.5-12 miles every morning before 8:00 AM. I started this riding schedule May 2nd and ride everyday except when it is raining or really thick fog. Here is a pic of my new bike. I would like to be a helpful resource whenever possible.

Welcome to BF, nice ride and congrats on the weight loss.

I started commuting by bike last year and have shed 55 pounds. The key for me is to get my heart rate up, I ride as fast and as hard as I can for my entire 7 mile ride.

Thank you for the kind words. I like my Cannondale Synapse sport alot it reminds me of a more stretched out Giant OCR frame. Relaxed geometry...First road bike I can ride no-handed for long distances.

These forums are invaluable. I found out about companies like aero tech that make riding a pleasure if you are not the normal 150 pound rider.
