I will soon assist a touring event that starts at 7am, so that means I gotta get up early. I know that after a meal a person must wait 2 hours at least to digest food, but an article says that is useless wake up too early to have a meal and sacrifice sleep time. So what I do? Is it safe to breakfast one hour before the event? Should I do another thing? A snack and after the event breakfast? Also, the event is short, is just 30 miles aprox. Thanks for your help.
It ain't like you're going swimming or anything—relax. Digesting your food while you're riding isn't going to hurt anything. You're over-thinking this. I wouldn't give it a second thought.

I just was about to vomit on that same mileage one day, and just ate poptartz
Is it an "event" or a race? foamy is correct if it is a ride wher all out effort is not required right from the start. Just eat something that is easy to digest and you know agrees with you.
What I don't get is "touring" + "event" but I guess that's just me.
But yeah, it's okay to get on the bike with a full tummy. Best way to start the day!

I'm a light eater before a ride. I will tend to snack while riding. Helps me keep my energy up or at least it feels like it. YMMV

I tend to avoid really huge meals before riding, but eat immediately before riding when on tour. In fact I eat before, during, and after. I even eat right before fairly fast organized centuries.
For a real hammer-fest I might avoid eating a large meal for an hour before.
I too am confused by what a touring event is. Care to elaborate?
