I've just bought a GF Piranha 09

Fantastic bike, great ride but big problem with the disc brakes rubbing and its driving me mad!

The Front disc break is constantly intermittently rubbing. The bike has
Clix wheel quick release system and hydraulic brakes and I noticed that If I release the wheel will run freely with no rubbing. Its when its locked the rubbing starts.

So I though that it maybe too tight overall, I adjusted the Clix system locked it and there was no rubbing. But now if I break hard with front brake the wheel leans towards the side with the disc and now it rubbing again! So really I need to have Clix system tight.

When I spoke with the dealer where I bought it I was told that there a lot more flex and twist in these forks than what I have on my Trek 4300 which is why I will get rubbing. I don't buy this explanation at all!

I have no idea what to do surely they shouldn't rub at all I had a Trek 4300 for 5 years with no where near the problems I'm having with this.


Just freely ran the wheel with out getting on the bike first thing this morning and theres no rubbing but I guarantee if I went out on it after a couple of minutes it would start rubbing.

Any ideas?

Or have you had the same issues with rubbing disc breaks on you bike?

Any help would be much appreciated

1. Bring it back to your LBS and have them fix it. That is why new bikes have warranties.

2. Your bike has BRAKES not BREAKS. Hate to be the grammar and spelling police, but this is simple English FFS.

Remove the $#%&*( clix skewer and throw it as far as you can. Now dig around in your parts box or go to your LBS and find an older style all metal qiock release. Not one of the ones with the plastic caps but good old steel. Put in on and things should get better.

In my opinion disk wheels and clix qrs are not a good combo.

I'm beginning to agree with you.

I was of the understanding that generally technology was suppose to get better and more reliable as we move forward
