Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Beanstalk Metric Century – RUSA Populaire
Sunday 08/2/08, 8:00 AM start

Join us this Sunday, August 2, 2009 for the first in a series of RUSA
populairs in memory of cyclist and Hotter-N-Hell (HHH) fanatic Mark
Sachnik. The next three Sunday's will feature a different ride of 62
km or longer and all riders are welcome. You need not be a member of
RUSA or LSR to ride. There are no entry fees. These rides are FREE.

This Sunday, August 2nd, we will roll out of Princeton for the
Beanstalk Metric Century. Ride start at 8:00 AM from the parking lot
at the corner of N 2nd Street and E College Ave across from Lacy
Elementary School in Princeton, TX. Bring a friend! This is an
excellent opportunity to introduce someone to LSR, the sport of
randonneuring and possibly test the long distance waters for some.

The main requirements for this ride are:
1. Sign the waiver
2. Wear a helmet
3. Carry a control card, get it "validated" at the turnaround and turn
it in at the finish.
In exchange for the above, ride insurance is provided.

There are no official ride/pace leaders. Ride at your own pace or with
a group. There is no formal SAG support and no rest stops - you may
choose to purchase food/drinks at stores along the route. The ride is
non-competitive and all finishers from first to last are given equal
recognition.

Please RSVP, even if tentative, so that we have enough control cards
for everyone. Hope to see ya there!

The Rides:
Sunday, August 2, 2009, 8:00AM Beanstalk (100 km - 62 mi)
Sunday, August 9, 2009, 8:00AM Bobcat Bite (103 km - 64 mi)
Sunday, August 16, 2009, 8:00AM Marko Polo (170.6 km - 106 mi)

Please RSVP to gre099 at gmail.com if you plan to attend.

I'm tentatively planning to come out, if I can wake up in time to drive from Lewisville...

That should be 62 MILES or longer, 100k or longer, FYI.

I'll be coming out. It'll be an hours drive for me. I already got my bike loaded up and ready to go.

I'll be in a purple Honda Fit and riding my new blue Mercier Galaxy Steel. I'll have the same helmet in my avatar.

I was planning to come, but I had my bike shop switch cassettes on my spare wheel set, and I didn't know how to adjust the derailleur, so I didn't have a reliable bike to ride. Maybe next Sunday...

Hats off to all of you. Ya'll are some strong riders! The heat got to me so I didn't complete the ride. Didn't even make it to the control. I do want to try again at the other ride in Celina, Tx.
I was talking to Steve, the guy that rode the recumbent with his wife. He spotted my on the side of the road drinking water and checked in on me. He was telling me that the really good riders of the group hadn't shown up today! Shows how much more I need to work out and build up to.
