Triathlon - Less than three weeks till my first 70.3

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am training since January and I finished some sprint-tri, oly-tri and half marathon this year. I finished my last oly-tri at 2h34m (26/1:19/49) and my last half marathon was under 1h45m. My main concern is with the bike course. I am training 3/4 times a week mainly at a roller and my weekend road training is between 50 and 80 miles. Sometimes I think it's not enough... Do you think I am exaggerating, or should I get more miles down the road?

well, down the road is about a week, usually a 70.3 taper begins about two weeks before the event. It looks fine. You can add more if you wish. Check out some of the online training plans, I think a couple are free for 70.3s.
Good Luck!

Sounds like you're in a good place with your training and fitness. Don't sweat it. Keep doing what you've been doing and have a great race. Don't forget to let us know how it went!!!

you're doing fine. i would say get out on the road maybe one more day instead of using a trainer if possible. the main thing is getting in a day out on the road for a long tempo ride which you're doing on the weekends.

I will try to do that! Thank you all for the feedback. This weekend road training was amazing... Nice weather and great buddies. Gave me confidence for the race (55miles and a 3mile bric).

that sounds a lot like my training volume since about February this year and I just finished my first 70.3 last weekend. It's not an easy race and it'll hurt, but you should be fine :)

My weekely training consist in 6.0-8.0miles swimming, 25-30miles running and 2-3hours in a trainer and between 50-80miles on the road. Yes... I know it will hurt...

Re: online training plans. I belong to Beginner Triathelte (beginnertriathlete.com) and it is a fantastic site.

Oh, I should point out it's not just for beginners. There is quite a range on there.
