I have a Cannondale super six and where the bottom bracket shell was glued into the frame it began to crack. It cracked almost halfway around my bb shell before I stopped riding it.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knew why it might have happened. I know my bottom bracket was tightened way too tight by a bike machanic which I know for sure resulted in destroying a set of berrings but could it effect the BB shell? By the way it took 3 people to get my bottom bracket loosened after the mechanic tightened it that day.

Also, I race with a guy who has a Pinarello Prince who has a BB shell as well(not BB30) and he claims that a bike shop tightened his too tight as well and his is showing the exact same crack along the bottom.

I don't know how the shop can tighten a BB30 too tight without trying to. I would take it to them or Cannondale for a replacement.

Contact Cannondale about a warranty replacement. Their Tech Rep can determine if the LBS's mechanics caused the problem or if it was a manufacturing defect. In either event you should be covered.

yea i have spoken to them and and the rep. and its covered under a crash replacement deal...it was just so i could tell the mechanic not to tighten it too much again if that was the problem cause im still forking out a good bit to replace my frame.
