Introductions - Trying not to get canned on my second day :-)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello all,

After an interesting first day on BF, feeling like I almost got my butt booted after resurrecting 3 long dead threads, I'm back to redeem myself. Doug here, from Falls Church, VA. Been biking seriously since 1992, mostly MTB until this year when I picked up road bike as well (as a reward for 3 months of working overtime on a death march project).

I know I'll take some heat for it :-), but I'm into old ProFlex bikes...My main ride is a '98 K2/Proflex 4000, which has been completely redone (all XTR M952, ball bearing pivot conversion, carbon Crosslink, Risses, etc.) and hopefully, someday, will get new paint. See pic.

Other rides include the '03 or so Intense Tracer, red Proflex 856 lightweight build/guest ride, silver 856 commuter, my wife's silver 856. Road bike is a Cervelo S2.

Happy to be here and will be giving more, required deference to the moderators from day 2 on. Long live Jombi.

- Doug :)

Hey Doug, don't worry about getting kicked off for doing that. A lot of times when pulling up old threads, the info is outdated and such.

Those are cool bikes you have there, though. There's a member here that has one of those all carbon frames (scares me for mtb) with the smartshock on it. How much of a drop can they handle?

Hmmm, I'm more of an XC rider and haven't done much super-aggressive stuff in this area/since I've had the bike. 3 foot drops are no problem (I'm sure this doesn't sound like much)...can't see why it couldn't do larger ones, I just haven't had the opportunity. This is my first year back riding consistently in a long time, so I'm taking on more aggressive terrain as I go/happen across it. I've really only had the bike for a year or so :-/
