Any word if Nike will be coming back as clothing sponsor for Radio Shack next year?

Trek is sponsoring them for the bikes for sure.

Not sure if Nike does good kits though. Their shoes are terrible, no?

They do, they did for the last few years of USPS and Disco. Well of course their shoes are terrible, just like Trek and anything else American is terrible right? They sold allot of shoes back in the day, and I would think that some people must have liked them, no?

In one of the last tour stage interviews when Lance confirmed Radio Shack as the title sponsor for next year he also mentioned Trek and Nike will be sponsors for next year. I presume that means Nike clothing??

Why are you offended? Did I even mention anything about it being American? I have a Felt and I like it very much. The only shoes I have a problem with are SIDI - are you going to accuse me of being anti-Italian now?

I read before that LA preferred Shimano to Nike shoes, and had to modify the latter.

Well...I was in Dick's Sporting Goods last night with my wife and the Livestrong brand is right there, everywhere with Nike. So, unless Lance has a falling out with his #1 edorsement contractor, it would seem impossible for Radio Shack to have anything else...you can ditto Giro, Oakley.

If you read Armstrong's first book you would know that he vowed to never endorse any other products that compete with those companies' because only those three companies stuck with him after he was diagnosed with cancer.

No I wasn't referring to you spefically, sorry if that was the impression I gave, just the usual anti Nike Trek bashing made by everyone because it seems fashionable to do so. I'm a Shimano shoe fan as well. I have some clothing by Nike, their jerseys, gloves, and socks I liked, but I prefer Giordana bibs.

I see I see. I just bought Shimano shoes -

I guess from Nike's perspective, the cycling business isn't too lucrative or worth the R&D? Seems the traditional names have the market cornered e.g. Pearl Izumi, Shimano, SIDI, Specialized etc.

I think you're referring to cycling shoes where RJH thought you were referring to all Nike's shoes - their seminal product and essentially a corporate identifier.

Glad everyone's reconciled now. :)

Some of Nike's cycling shoes were made by DMT and were great shoes, such as the Hautacam.

Who really cares about shoes anyway? It's like trying to say one saddle is better than another....

I would be shocked if Nike came back full board. From what I heard they couldn't get enough market share to make cycling a profitable line for them. And with Lance looking like he may only commit to 1 more year of racing, I can't see Nike making the investment to get resources going. They may do stuff like jerseys that probably sell more (volume wise) but not into shorts, bibs, gloves, warmers, etc.

Personally I like their stuff and have a few pairs of the Lance shoes so I would like to see them come back.

By the way, Lance now wears Nike re-badged Rocket 7s.
I think Levi prefers the Nike Poggio.

Yes.. I am an Addidas fan.. And despise Nike.. Yes. their shoes are terrible. Should L.A. stand on the podium after riding his Trek. I'll cheer , but wear the Radio Shack Jersey at some future date.. / .. never.
. Don't care much for Radio Shack either. Along with Trek.. / Go Lance. be number one.

Love to score a pair of the Poggios that Oscar Pereiro is wearing minus the "Oscar" on the strap.
