Mountain Biking - Need a cheap fork(yes, i read the fork buying guide)

Am i correct in saying that you seldom find really cheap suspension forks at bike shops because most people that buy new forks are looking for uprgades?

If so, please disregard my post as my dad is looking for a really cheap(under $100 CDN) fork that he can equip on his old bike. He isn't doing any mountain biking, just riding on the streets.

Ok, so if you answered "no" to my first question, please respond to my next one. In the fork buying guide, it says that RST forks are cheap..how cheap are some of their lower end models? and does anyone that lives in Toronto know where they can be purchased?

RST sells for 50$ and less. I know of no one that sells them but that online shop.

Jenson USA has a good rockshox pilot that will meet the budget requirements and is much better than RST. i have used RST and Rockshox and there is a big difference in quality and life expentency between the 2

they also have a Manitou Axcel for a little less than the Pilot. Is he willing to pay $79+s/h?thats the price of the Axcel. the Pilot is $89+s/h

If pops is only riding on the road he should just invest in a ridged fork or keep the one he has and upgrade some components. No need for suspension fork. Even if on occasion he hits the dirt.

True, but sometimes you want a little smoother ride in the front. But if money is REALLY a problem then go rigid. Otherwise I'd say go with the RST.

I don't think so. Althought I live in the US and there is the exchange rate of somehting like 1 to 1.3256. Shipping won't cost that much. I order stuff all the time online and you can getting groundshipping for like $5 US. Thats only 6.63 cdn. So how could shipping costs be that high?

International shipping. Probably gonna cost 15 - 20$. And the 60$ cdn RST on bikeroom will cost 40$ american. Give or take.

I also try to support canadian as much as possible. No need for you guys to get more of our money.

try looking for used forks on ebay or even mtbr.com
