I found this bike at a garage sale and it looked like something that might be fun to restore and ride. I want to learn as much as I can though to find out if it is going to be too costly for me. I took off everything for a clean and lube except the headset and crankset. I left that to the pro. He wanted the bike, which I guess at least means it isn't junk.

He said I probably don't want to tackle this since the English bikes have their own metrics and are hard to retrofit. I just want a solid bike I can afford to maintain.

Any information on this company and model or restoring in general would be much appreciated.

Looks like it was made at the Raleigh factory. They made bikes for department stores and such, right along with the Raleigh Sports. The rear dropout should feature a threaded boss, for a rack, that is inline with the chainstays. This feature indicates a Raleigh made bike, of the Sports variety.

Apparently, This model is not set up to carry a rack. No braze ons for hardware or cables. My guess is that it was made for a sportier/racing trim due to the Wright Saddle and the very wide flange hubs of which the rear is threaded on the opposite side of the freewheel to carry a fixed cog. It also has no fenders and a three bolt crank/chainwheel which seems a little sportier than the other robin hoods I've seen. I think this bike was an entry level ride, but specifically for the road/track market. Perhaps this is why it also carries the Lenton Sports name.

I'm digging the flip flop hub because now I can forget about having to hassle with adjusting the old components. My goal in this is to see if I could make a solid, attractive exercise bike primarily from what was on it to begin with. So far I've got $10.00 invested in the original bike and $2.50 in new ball bearings. Handle bar tape and a fixed gear cog may be my budget busters:lol:

It is worth $10 just for the Robin Hood badge on the head tube!

That's a nice-looking Robin Hood.

Mine is a Lenton Sports as well, in (I believe it is called) Lenton green.

Similar, if not identical, components, though not the same seat.
