Hi everyone,
This is my first post here. A friend told me people here are legit. I...or my roommate...has a bike, a 70s peugeot, really nice condition and what not, almost looks new, he uses it as a beater. I went on a ride with it one day and the shifting really got to me. They would change constantly on their own blah blah blah. I wanted to see if I could change the shifters from simplex to levers. The derailleurs are Sachs Huret if that helps. I have no idea how to go about doing this! HELP!!!
let me know if i need to add more information.
Thanks!
Omid

Back when I was working on bikes, late 70s early 80s, the plastic Simplex stuff was tough to keep adjusted. The plastics would wear and strip out. We would often recommend changing out the whole system; "upgrade" to Suntour was my stock answer. I don't know what value the vintage Simplex components carry these days, but I can say with confidence that 30 years has not made them any more dependable. I can also learn here...
