Hi guys,

Via a craigslist ad, I'm seeing a Serotta Tri-Colorado later today (price seems extremely good). I'm presuming from the downtube shifters this is a vintage bike, but I was curious if anyone had some general comments on that (if they ever went to bar-end shifters and then brifters)... the ad says it's equipped with shimano 600 ultegra components...

The only other thing is the author says "32 inch standover height", which may work out for me actually as I'm 6'3", although if this translates to a 61 or 62 frame it might be just too damn big... any thoughts?

If you're 6-3 I don't believe a 61 or 62cm frame would be too big - definitely 32-inch standover sounds OK to me. I'm 6-0 and 32-inch standover is fine - you may find the bike is a bit smaller than 61cm, and perhaps even on the small side - what size frame do you normally ride?
Older steel Serottas are great bikes to own and ride, IMO, especially if the price is right (I own 2). I would consider that to be a vintage bike. There were probably some Colorados made with brifters in the early 90's. Bar ends, on the other hand, do not represent a mid-way between downtube shifters and brifters, but a different option entirely that some folks just happen to prefer.

Thanks for the info! Generally speaking, I'm a 61 cm, depending upon the manufacturer...
