Did anyone see that crash near the back that involved a Cofidis rider w/ about 12 miles to go? The other rider (CSC maybe?) was tangled up w/ a riderless Cannondale. He just "ripped" it off and let it fall to the ground. THEN is was run over by one of the team cars :cry: If only I had been there. I would have gladly taken the offending bike home and taken loving care of it. *sniff* Might as well burn $10k :(

I thought It was a Decathalon, but yes, I saw it, he just pulled it free and let it drop.

As much as we love our bikes, they are simply tools of the job for these guys.

I thought he held it up for a bit looking for it's owner and then thought "sod it, I've a race to finish!" and let it fall over. I too howled when the support car hit it.

I saw that too... and I had a similar reaction... I'm thinking, "the rider seems OK now, HOW'S THE BIKE?"

If it makes you feel any better, I noticed that as the medical guy was helping the rider, his team tech hopped out of the support car and was checking over the bike... he changed both wheels and gave the frame the OK to keep going... the rider jumped on and took off... both bruised but not beaten.

It looked like a Decathlon bike to me

I didn't catch it getting smashed by the support car...but oh poor bike :(

Cofidis riders are hitting the floor

i want one of those waterbottles they throw down on the sidewalks during the stages.....that'd be cool to have.......its like a catching a foul ball in at a baseball game

I saw that, and I thought "sheesh, why couldn't the guy at least push the bike into the grass and not onto the street?" and I actually covered my eyes when I saw the car run that bike over. But those mechanics must be wonderful- it's like they replaced the entire bike in seconds and the guy took off. Lucky break.

Was that the one with the $2600 Campagnolo Bora wheels? I didn't see the car run over it. I did see the rider take a look at it and drop it on the pavement.

At the moment local tv stations are running adds to fight crime, reminding criminals that police take DNA from crime scenes to get them busted.Suprizing they don't check w/bottles after use to check whats been in them?
