I found the results by bib number here: http://www.marincyclists.com/Default.aspx?pageId=183525

But no "placing" list. Ygduf, could you pls. advise the link for the placing list? I'm guessing I'm like . . .304th place . But hey, whatever, I finished under the time limit!

Oh, and what does "SR" after the time indicate?

Rick / OCRR

Same question here. I scanned through the times and counted less than 50 people faster than me. I wish I didn't have to wait 20 minutes extra at lunch in order to let my (late starting) friend catch up.

SR means that person is in the stage race.

I just copied the table into a google doc and sorted by total time! I'm like that...

SR indicates Stage Race participants.

I pasted the results into excel and did a sort on time. Looks like I got in the top 20 :)

Some pictures:

No idea where this was taken. It's a sunrise from somewhere, though.

Not sure of this location either. It's headed south. Sunrise to the left.

This is Fairfax/Bolinas climb...

This is headed east into the misty sunrise on Pan tol I think.

Another misty-sunrise-y shot.

Next two are what the rest of the day looked like, with few exceptions.

This is that horrible climb just before Coleman Valley. All day, everyone kept saying "watch out for coleman, watch out for coleman..." Well, this climb was just as steep, and unexpected. Maybe 200ft shorter than Coleman, but a real kick to the morale anyway.

This is on Coleman. The guy behind me was wearing Summit Bicyle Shop bibs. I complained loudly to him for as long as he kept up about all the rollers, overcast skies, everything. I didn't know he was behind me when I took this pic, though. He looked skinny with huge quads. I'm not sure how we kept the same pace for so long.

And then, uh, that's it. No more pics for the next 80 miles because I was too damn tired to be bothered with it, and everything looked like brown rolling hills. Stage Road is more scenic, and I have lots of pictures of that.

I wish I'd gotten pictures at dinner, but was too fried to think of grabbing the camera after putting the bike in the car.

Thanks rumbutter,

I did the excel sort thing too. I finished 231st :roflmao2:. Not as good as I hoped, but not as bad as I feared!

And thanks for the photos Ygduf!

Must be hard to reach those two bottles on the bottom. Tests Ruth's handling skills :D

Haha.. They are also like .5" from the timing chain... watch your fingers!

Seriously, those bottom two are "Stash Bottles." They have all our tubes, mini pump, multi tool, cell phone, etc.... So no one needs to reach them while riding. They are effectively a much sleeker replacement for our rear rack. Plus they keep the added weight down low, which is better for handling.

Sweet! How much does the new tandem weigh compared to the old one? Is it stiffer?

@uspspro is it an angle thing, or does Ruthness' knee angle seem more upright? nevertheless, that's a very good looking bike; now you two need to decide on the helmet color and shoes!

I noticed the same thing. Maybe shorter cranks?

Like others have said it's a very cool looking bike. I am looking forward to seeing it tomorrow!

she has a bunch more reach on this bike... maybe that's what you mean?

Might go with a 1cm longer stem to shorten the reach a tad.. need a few more rides to be sure.

EDIT: Also, the amount of exposed seat post is a lot more, since the frame is a more "compact" design.

The cranks are the same set off the other bike (170mm Ruth and 172.5 for mine).

OH... If you are comparing Ruth to me in the picture... that's just because I have short legs ;)

Splendid tandem, congrats.

I think Ruth has the correct reach. Her knee height seems to be due to how her heels are higher than yours, it looks like she has her toes pointed down to the extreme. It might be her natural position and what feels comfortable to her, or it could be corrected by moving the saddle backward a bit.
