... I just have to say that Lance is the man. I just saw the Nike "Magnet" ad for the 100th time and, though it's of course "glamorized", it just drove home the fact that this is a man who survived against the odds and has become a source of hope and inspiration for millions. I'm not so much talking about his TdF wins, though they are, of course, a big part of who he is. Despite his foibles and shortcomings, I honestly believe he's a sincere individual who takes his second chance at life as a serious calling. I've always liked Nike's "Just Do It" and I think Lance is the perfect example. I just finished "Every Second Counts" for the second time and am again awed by his courage and determination. In a day when it seems pro athletes want nothing more than to do as they will with no consideration for "how it looks", I think Lance takes the mantle of "Role model" and wears it with pride. As I watch that commercial and see him rding at his hardest and just pulling Life along behind him, I can't help but be glad I'm a small part of "his" sport. When things are at their toughest, he simply bows his head and rides even harder into the headwind. I admire Lance a great deal and I only hope I can someday look back on my life and kow that I made every second count.

Pardon me for this swell of emotion, but I'm just so impressed and awestruck. I think LA is quite simply one of the most amazing people of all time :)
