I had been riding 9-10 miles per days at work. Three other guys at work have registered for our local MS 150 and I decided to join them. The ride is Oct 3&4 and I know I have to work up to that after only starting to ride about 2 weeks ago. I decided earlier this week I would do a 25 mile ride this morning. I did the ride and feel surprisingly well. I had quite a strong head wind heading out and to the south, but when I got on A1A to head north it was nice having that tail wind. I did have one problem, about 20 miles into the ride I was pedaling around a corner and leaned a little too much and my pedal stripped right off. I still had the post there, so I pedaled the final 5 miles with the post on the right and a pedal on the left.

Currently I am riding a Schwinn hard tail mountain bike with road tires, and will be looking at road bikes in the next couple of weeks. I just need to be more careful when pedaling around corners.

Now, back to the ride. It was a nice ride, especially coming up A1A on the beach and just being out and riding. I didn't push too hard today, knowing how far I had to go, but I think I could have gone a little harder, and I was even thinking about going about another 5 miles until I lost my pedal.

Congratulations on your ride, lucky you didn't mess up that peddle sooner.

Yeah, I thought about that after it happened. I would have called my wife, and then been REALLY upset with myself.
