Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Went for an early morning ride yesterday and as I was turning from a road onto the MUP took the turn a little too fast. Swung wide, and realized I was headed for the edge. I couldn't decide whether to straighten up and ride into the grass or try to fight to make the turn - gravity and dew slicked grass made the decision for me. WHAM! Down hard on my right side. Fortunately my body saved the bike from any damage! Just a few scrapes and a bruised ego.
The rest of the ride couldn't have been more pleasant. Twice I was accompanied by flocks Goldfinches as I cruised along the road.

Hey cool. I crashed one day after you. I wiped out on gravel yesterday during a fast left turn and scraped up my ass cheek, shoulder and elbow. Squashed my banana in my shirt, ripped a nice hole into it at the shoulder and my bike received a scratched pedal, skewer and handlebar.
My helmet is crunched, since I took a nice hit on the pavement with my head.
Now this was halfway into our 45 mile group ride but I was able to finish the ride at least.
Little strained neck and my shoulder hurts a bit but other than that I'm good.

I finished a small climb and had to get into a left turn lane while still on the hill and checking over my shoulder for cars. I careened into the curb on the right and somehow managed to stay up while rubbing my sidewall for several seconds.
A month ago I made my elbow look like your knee so I was lucky to avoid deja-vu

just a scrape ;) seriously go check out crackerjab's "scrape" (a fooster not clyde) he has one of the more terrible cuts via biking I have seen. (though of course other crashes have been worse as far as bones/ligiments damage http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=567592

Hmm... Where are the guts you promised, spilling out in a reeking, gory mess? :p
Hope you recover quickly.

I too and disapointed at the misleading title.
Just kidding Mike, I hope you heal quickly and next time straighten up and go into the grass. Use your back brake to slow you while on a slick surface.

I went down about 4 years ago and tore up my arm and leg pretty good. What hurt the worst was the broken Ultegra Shifter.

GEEESH Tom I have wrecked motorcycles and come out better than that!
It's pretty hard to win a scar showing contest around here! :injured:
I hope not to have an entry into this competition this year. Last year's broken rib was enough for me, thank you.
