BMX - Need help w/ dk.dayton fork bolt

I read somewhere on these forums a compression bolt is necessary to avoid warping the neck (where the stem attaches to the fork) from over tightened stems. Should I be concerned or was that just one person reefing on their stem bolts like a mad man.
Edit: Also, I'm unfamiliar with the bolt sizes. I'm looking at the stem lock from profile racing and it is available in pro and mini (1-1/8" or 1"), I'm not sure what the sizes refer to. Any help would be great.
You want the 1 1/8 size
