General Cycling Discussion - Replacing wheels on my canadian Tire Bike

I have this bike and have pretty much destroyed the rear wheel. Spokes keep snapping on the drive side of the rear wheel and I am starting to see metal fatigue by the spoke eyelets on the actual rim. The rim is a 700c rim with 24 spokes; On the rear hub it is stamped quando and the cassette is made by DNP but seems to use a shimano cassette tool to remove cassette.

What do i need to look for to find something that is compatible ... i love ebay

yeah actually i was also wondering about changing the tires on my canadian tire bike aswell.....i ride a raleigh matterhorn and id like a wider tire thats more pavement friendly but still has the tools to handle some simple dirt bike trails. if i change to a wider tire will i have to change to a new tube also?
the crap tires my bike came with arnt that great for pavement commuting, and theyre turning blue???

That's not a kind of lacing that a $300 bike should have. For wheels with this few spokes to be any good, they alone would cost at least that much...

If anything, I personally would switch to a narrower and slicker tire. I ride non-technical unpaved trails on my 32-mm slicks (i.e., the tire is narrower than on your bike and completely smooth) with no issues.

When you change the tire width, you may or may not need to change the tube. A tube will fit a range of widths (e.g., 1.75"-2.125"). So if your new tire fits within the range of the old tube, you can use the old tube. You can also get away with using a slightly mismatched tube (e.g., a 1.75"-2.125" tube on a 1.5" tire, but tubes are quite cheap and generally disposable, so you might as well get a proper one, and keep this one as a spare, for instance).

Get wheel with an Alex rim 30 mm deep with 32 or 36 spoke. Also a spoke tensiometer, so you can check for even tension in the spokes
