Northeast - Which New Hampshire region to cycle in?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi Folks
I'm planning a couple of days in the New Hampshire region and I really don't know which region to cycle in!
Which region(s) offer the best roads with the best scenery (I'm not a goat but I can do 1500 meters of elevation in a day ride).
Thanks in advance!

I would head to the No. Conway, White mtns area. Plenty to do and some spectacular riding, especially in the fall. Enough hills to keep most any rider busy!

Thanks! and that's the direction it's heading in right now. :)

There are some greenway routes in NH too. Check out the cue sheet if you're interested.

The Lakes Region is also an area worth exploring.
I have done no cycling in the area, but there is wonderful scenery!
In the white mountains, I saw several cyclists on the Kancamagus Highway, and the climbs seemed moderate, and the scenery was wonderful. From what I have heard, anywhere in the area is likely to be crowded during fall foliage season, but the traffic will probably be moving pretty slowly.
If you want to stay in a wonderful B&B near the White Mountains, I loved this place:

Gourmet breakfasts were wonderful, and there is only a short drive (a half hour or so) to all of the popular tourist activities. I have no connection with the B&B except that I will probably stay there again the next time I am in the area. ;)

The coast... from Salisbury Beach MA to York Beach ME.... through Portsmouth NH. Fast, flat and scenic ride.
Cycling the Kancamangus is not for the faint of heart. Hills are not incredibly steep but non stop. Also the traffic can be intimidating.

Both the Lakes Region and the White Mountains Region have great rides. You can get bike maps for all of the tourist regions at visitor information centers. Try the Mt Washington Visitors Center on Route 16 in Intervale, north of North Conway, or the visitors center in Conway Village.
