Anyone gotten a frame painted here? How was the quality? Price.
I'm looking to get a frame + fork painted/powder coated but don't have the cash to go to one of the true masters. This place seems reasonable, and local to me in SF.
So, what do you all think of the place? Thanks!
they have great reviews on yelp. i know aj there because he comes into my work place a lot. he does great work, very friendly.

Yeah, they're 5star across the board on Yelp.
I think I'll end up going here; it is convenient to where I work, highly reviewed, and sounds like they have good people over there who aren't above painting a bike frame.
For those interested, I just got a quote and it's $125 for a frame + fork. That cost is for colors they already have available, in shop. if you want something more custom, they said it will increase.
If I do in fact go here I will post pictures of the frame - before + after.

Make sure they plug your threaded areas. Not everybody does.

Got my frame back. They have a pretty good selection of colors available - basically different shades of your typical ROYGBIV varity. They said it would take about a week and then called me two days later to say it was ready - score! Frame and fork ran $100, which includes full sanding and priming of a disassembled frame.
If I was to note a downside it's that there is slight overspray on the threads of my bottom bracket. It's not much and super light, so I don't think it'll provide troublesome upon re installation.

The paint will cause problems, so get the BB shell chased and faced before you install the BB. Run a tap through all the threaded holes to remove the paint.

Yep, definitely had to do this. The BB cups weren't going in easily. I took them out and chased and faced, now we're good as new. Looks pretty radical.

Yessir, from 1987.
Can't comment on the durability just yet as I'm still putting it together. I will say that it's on there thick and there were spots that had to be shaved (rear brake stays, downtube shifter holes) and it wasn't an easy job. We'll see what happens after locking it up and giving it daily wear n' tear.
For the money, I'm extremely pleased. I'll update if the paint starts to flake, chip, etc.
