Hello everyone,
I am still eagerly waiting for my Brompton to come. I have been waiting a few months now. So, in the meantime, I just bought a Boardwalk S1 to use as a beater. I want to attach a child seat for my son on the bike! Is it possible? I was thinking about buying the Bell Cacoon Child Seat. Would this work or does anyone know of any child seat that would work? Any tips/info would be appreciate because I am unemployed at the moment and I don't want to waste money on a child seat if it isn't going to work :thumb:

P.S.-My son is 2 1/2 years old

Yes, a child seat is possible on a 20". This is a picture of my highly modified Downtube. As you can see, the seat works great. (It's a Rhode Gear Co-Pilot.) I used it to take him to pre-school. All the other kids at school were highly jealous.

PS: You are aware that the child seat won't work on the Brompton, right??

Haha, I love your bike. Anyone would be jealous. I bought a Bell Classic and installed it, but the seat is really close to my seatpost and my foot hits my sons feet when I pedal.....so I am going to the hardware store tomorrow and see if I can figure something out.

Maybe put a rear rack made for a full size bike? I did this and brought the panniers up and backwards. Could help for a childs seat also.

I will try that if I can't find a simple fix with the existing rack. Thanks.

Perhaps a Hamax child seat could work?

Must it be a seat? How about a trailer? Years ago, when my oldest was little (he's 26 now), I rented a bike with a child seat and took him for a ride. It was top heavy and kept wanting to fall over. Poor kid took it in stride, but I swore never to use a child seat on a bicycle again.

Yep, we use a BoBike on the front of an R20 to run around with our daughter. It works great and the windshield is a nice feature for keeping debris out of her eyes and also helps with those colder mornings.

In addition to the R20 we also have a pair of Bromptons and recently acquired an "IT Chair" This works good as well, except no windshield which is normally fine.

I went to the hardware store and got the pieces! So, I went out and rode twice with my son already. He loves it. The seat has enough room so I don't hit his feet when I pedal.....I tried to post a pic here......but it keeps failing....I don't know much about computers doh!

I have seen a standard looking bike seat mounted to the seatpost tube of a Brompton once. Sorry no idea what it was.
