Mountain Biking - 2 front fork recommendations needed.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Both my borther and I need new front shocks but we have different terrain that we ride. We'd both prefer to buy something leftover from '08 with a big discount versus a current year shock at close to MSRP. Maybe in $250-350 range with a nice leftover discount.

Fork 1: Flordia single track/double track trails which are mostly flat with alot of tree roots. Fork features must include cantilever bosses, some type of lock out, adjustable compression and rebound if possible and it must accept a standard front hub. Idealy it should as low maintenace as possible.

Rider weight 190-200 lbs.

The current fork on this bike is a Mantiou Platinum (not sure of exact model) with oil/air, remote lock out, and an adjsutable rebound knob.

Fork 2: Upstate NY single/double track trails with typical upstate NY elevation changes. Fork features must include cantilever bosses, some type if lock out, adjustable compression and rebound if possible and it must accept a standard front hub. Should be low maintenance as well.

Rider weight 210-220 lbs

The current fork fork is whatever Manitou came on the 4 year old Fisher.

Both of us are not pleased with our Manitou forks.

So, what do you guys think?
