This is probably a dumb question but I'm gonna ask anyway...

I bought a Ridley Crossbow frameset and am moving a Shimano 105 group over from my road bike. The road bike has a compact FSA crank.

I was thinking of leaving the FSA on the road bike and getting a SRAM Rival 50/36 and then swapping the 50 for a 46 chainring. Since the compact is 110 BCD and the Rival 50/36 is 130 BCD would doing this cause any issues with my FD?

Any crank set with a 36 is not 130 BCD. My bet is that they are both 110. Your FD won't care about BCD but will care about the number of tooth count of you chainrings. The shifting plates of your FD should sit approx 1mm above the largest chainring. Hope this answered your questions.

Whoops, you're right. I got mixed up with all the different cranksets I was looking at.

Thanks!

FWIW - There is a Rival version of a cross crank that can be had fairly inexpensively. Also SRAM S300 crank is available as a cross crank as well. Clicky my siggy if you need to find one... ;)
