Ticked me off.

Went on a family bike ride and he lagged behind the whole time, with the headset going and half pedaling and coasting. We stopped a couple of times to wait for him.

Get to near the end of the ride and we have to go up a steep hill, of perhaps a 100 foot vertical climb. I'm just biking it like I usually do, not too fast not too slow and I make my way up. He comes from nowhere, and bobs his frickin' head to the music as he drops me. :wtf:Woa is me.:( I pump it up and still can't catch him. :50:

Well, I don't want this to ever, ever happen again! I bike all the time and this bumpkin never does.

What's a good excersize to improve my strength on climbs?

He's a junior in high school and he works out regularly, in prep for football. I'm thinking its the squats he does that gave him his great climb. I never squat. Would this help me quite a bit? Anything else?

Thanks.

squats, lunges, leg presses. you can do squats and lunges in the comfort of your own home :D leg presses, you need a machine, but all good for the legs and will improve your climb

Gotta climb hills. No way around that. I suck so keep that in mind, but when I didn't suck as much I had a hill that took 8 minutes to climb. Within a week it was 6 minutes. I don't think it was due to better fitness just learning to climb. I am a flatlander that was out of my element.

Don't feel bad, I was out on my new superlight, skinny racing bike on a 160 mile trek along with my daughter on her fairly heavy front suspension mountain bike a few years ago. She would stop in the distance every so often and wait for me.

I'm OK with it.... I figure she's lighter so that's why she's faster.... : )
