That sucks, sorry to hear.
it really sucks that you go out to give your free time and some a-hole decides to make your day miserable.
That is horrible Track. I hope that they catch the guy and you get your bike back brother.

I'll bring the rope if you supply the tree, once the thief is caught.

It seems a pattern is emerging, at least as far as fixed gear thefts :
Last Thursday ANOTHER track bike was stolen right around the corner
from where mine was stolen at right about the same tyme.
A courier was tagged. Yes we both had locked up so my guess is
a van with some pretty hefty bolt cutters.
BASTARDS
Guess you know where I will be this Thursday.
Think they will bite?http://i746.photobucket.com/albums/xx107/iamtrackman/Guerciotti/kdh1.jpg

I'll keep an eye out. Seems like a lot of bikes in the DC area are getting stolen recently. Locked or not.
Someone's gottin organized.

have you tried posting a want ad on Craigs list. Looking for a bike so and so? Have you cked the for sale ads??
Dang - wishing you luck in recovering it. Plaster your area with signs and online alerts. Hopefully no one will buy it - or at least contact you if they see it.

yes, two actually:
1 reporting the theft
2 wanting to buy
responses, only one to # 2---> "better way to buy a track bike"

You should lock up another bike there and hide and watch. You should also alert pawn shops and other places that buys stuff.

sounds a bit dangerous - but this just worked for Dan! I'd try it but carry a flamethrower and grenades just in case.

That's an excellent idea:thumb: Bike shops too - can people trade in used bikes? If they can, that one would be desirable, obviously.

I bet most of the bikes that are stolen in DC are trucked up to Baltimore, Philly or NYC, then sold craigslist, and vice versa for ones stolen in NYC etc.

My thoughts exactly or possibly even out of the country for higher end/vintage stuff...

That is exactly what I had planned to do with the Guerciotti shown in the post above.
Ended up at a job interview instead Thursday.
Got the job, not the thief :0(
