I hear the bike path opened on the 680 bridge. I'm going to give the Carquinez and back around the Concord /Benicia bridges a try. Any warnings or tips?

Be very careful exiting on the Martinez side. CalTrans has failed to complete the multi-use path from the bridge to the nearest surface street, Marina Vista Avenue. This has been a major point of contention, for advocates of the MUP.

You will be dangerously dumped off the MUP onto a heavily used industrial drive, complete with railway and tractor trailers. That is not as planned. CalTrans claims that the railroad will not provide the needed right-of-way.

Otherwise, it will be great to have the MUP. I may just do the out & back ride to Benicia, just for the experience, this week. Hopefully surviving the ingress and egress on the Martinez side will not prove to be a major challenge.

Cheers,
Geary

The Recumbents of the East Bay are planning to be up there on the 29th to ride across it. I think that's "supposed" to be the official opening.

Well...the MUP is not quite ready for prime time. I tried to ride today from the Martinez side. I made it 1/4 mile! They are still landscaping and I was told that the trail was closed. :p
The surface is obviously new and smooth , but currently very cluttered with construction and landscaping debris. The entrance is not as bad as first thought, but still a challenge to safely cross the railroad tracks and an active industrial roadway.
I’m excited…..!!
