Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey all, we decided to add some specialized markets after the experiment in Classic and Vintage went as well as it did. If you look up at the top of the forum, you'll find a new embedded subforum for your particular type of bikes! It'll make it easier for you to advertise your bikes that yu have for sale. People on't have to hunt and hope exclusively in the main marketplace. You'll also have your own corner as well. You can post in here in the specialized market above and also cross post your ad to the main marketplace as well. This will give you much better exposure.

Also, to allow greater access, you can now purchase a short term 1 month Titanium Trial membership for 30 days for $3.00, or the regular 1 or 2 year upgrade to Titanium. Any of these options allow you full Titanium access and unlimited ads for the subscription period. Al we ask is if your bike sells, click te report post on yur origina post and ask the staff to delete your post. It has the same rules as the main marketplace. Set a price, no auction threads, no make offer posts. Use it in good health!

Wanted: Tandem trike. For trade: upright tandem 08 Cannondale Road Bike.

This is probably a long shot, but I am would really like to obtain a tandem trike. I ride a lot with my 8 yo daughter and occassionally with my wife. We have a 3 person tandem that has been ridden for 4 years (not for trade) that was
seeing about 2,000 miles/year. We recently got a C'dale tandem (up for trade) for the little one and I. It only has about 500 miles on it total. It is a L/S with campy Centaur shifters.

My girl is great, but is certainly a fair weather rider. I want to commute with her a lot more, including on days that are rainy and/or cold. I commute by bike all the time, but I have a distinct resilience to adverse weather.
So, Although I bought this upright tandem, I am now deciding that I would much rather have a trike. The C'dale rides great, but I need something that I turn into a velomobile (a bent). I know that tandem trikes are expensive,
so the trade might not be even, but who knows? Maybe somebody has bought a new trike and would love to invest in the livelihood of a young family :)

My intention is to outfit a tandem trike with a full fairing made out of coroplast (on the bottom and sides) and PETG clear plastic for the top, creating a fully enclosed velomobile. I have been looking around for pictures,
but haven't seen any fully faired tandems, but I think I could do it. This would allow for 4 season all weather riding (except deep snow). it does not need to have independent coasting and it does not need to couple,
but it does need to be decent quality although I am very capable of any maintenance that would be required. As long as the frame is in good shape, I can do any kind of drivetrain/wheel/etc. repair.

Here's some pictures on the C'dale.

I eventually want the tandem trike to look something like this (only tandem)

Thank you

Still a DF rider, but, I have been reading about bents here on BF for a while now and have decided that it's just a matter of time before I "get bent".

Last week I bought a very nice recumbent exercise bike for the wife (and myself) and after a few half hour rides on it I am hooked. It's nice to actually still have feeling in certain areas after a ride and I think that once I get a bent, I will be much more likely to commute on it than I am on my trek.

Problem is, I'm a cheap SOB, so there is no way I will spring for something new.

So, is there anybody out there with something for me? Really don't want to be spending more than a few hundred bucks at the moment. Might consider my very nice trek 1200 and older 520 DF bikes in trade.

I am also interested in building my own. I am fairly handy and have been looking for an excuse to buy a welder for a while now.

Any links to homemade bent sites would be welcome.

Thanks.
