Retrofit Turns a bicycle to an 'Ambulance'
Zambikes is a project that retrofits bicycles by adding a trailer. This is
especially useful in rural <http://www.zambia.co.zm/> Zambia (and other
parts of Africa) where there aren't many cars to get the sick to hospital,
much less an ambulance.

Our 2009 <http://zambikes.org/> Zambulance is designed and produced in
Zambia to meet specific medical needs. It is now possible to easily
transport patients from their home to a clinic in a comfortable and
accessible ambulance trailer.
Patients are no longer being ferried to health centers on ox carts or
wheelbarrows - just attach the Zambulance to any bicycle or push manually.
The 'ZamCart' A multipurpose trailer
Interestingly, the Zambike project sells and outfits bikes under the local
brand name of 'Amaka Sana', the Bemba word for 'very strong' .
