531 Treks have a pretty good value right now. Depends on your market area. I would guess around $350. But it could be worth more.

I defer to other Trek experts.

Would powerdercoating in the same colors with replacement decals lower the value? There are some scratches that have gotten to the metal and I'd like to either protect it (naval jelly for rust?) or refinish the entire thing in a more durable paint.

Yes, powder coating will lower the value, and you will likely spend about $250 for the privilege.

Read some of the rust threads, and touch up the paint.

See the prices in the 660 thread in the main forum - this frame is a step-up (all 531), and pre-fastback cast seatstay lugs. $350 is a low-ball.

And do not pc the frame as pc will reduce the value.

I was going to guess 400 for northeast Ohio. +1000 please don't powder coat that bike.
