I'm thinking of heading out in that general direction on Friday afternoon, so weekday parking tips would be good to know. I saw a small mall/coffee store at the corner of Jacklin Rd and N Park Victoria Dr (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=1310+Jacklin+Rd,+Milpitas,+CA&sll=37.447964,-121.886208&sspn=0.00799,0.013754&ie=UTF8&ll=37.447947,-121.886809&spn=0.00799,0.013754&z=16&iwloc=A) that could be just the ticket.

Thoughts from folks that know the area?

thnx

When I drive down to that area to bike up Mt. Hamilton or Sierra or Calaveras, I park at Cataldi Park (corner of Morrill and Cataldi). There is a public parking lot there, as well as lots of street parking if the lot is full.

I avoid parking at store parking lots, which I'm sure the stores would rather have paying customers using.

Thanks - exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I'm with you on your last point.

I always ride to Calaveras, but I see lots of cyclists parking on the east side of Evans Rd. (the northern continuation of Piedmont), between Calaveras and Old Calaveras. It's shady, there's lots of shoulder, and your car is in plain sight of the ranch-house on the east side of the road.

I ride twice a week up Calaveras and park at the corner of Piedmont Rd. and Landess. There's an apartment building there with trees that shade your car. It's a great starting point for me because it gives me time to warm up before going to Sierra in one direction or Calaveras in the other. In fact, we'll be going up Weller Road via Calaveras tomorrow night.
