Hey there!
I have a KMC-8 Speed chain on one of my bikes, unfortunately I just don't manage to break it.
It has one of those early chain-connecters, the ones that you're supposed to open with pliers.
So is there any other way to break or cut it?
Thanks!
Alessandro

Well I sure hope you've tried pliers.
Silly suggestion, I know.

Yes I have, with all the power I could.
It didn't move at all...

Bolt-cutters will handily remove it. Just don't ask us how to put it back on. :D

I would think a regular chain tool would work on one of the other links. I've used and old school $5 Rivoli on my 8-speed chain.

Doesn't seem to work with a regular tool on the other bolts, they are just stuck!

if you don't plan to re-use it, why not break out the dremel or even an angle grinder and cut it off?

post a picture maybe someone has seen it before. Insert a screw driver in the clip and twist, or am I thinking of something else
You could try a torch or P'Blaster to loosen things up.

Yeah, if it's not a precious family heirloom, bolt cutters.

"Blue light rain, whoa, unbroken chain
Looking for familiar faces in an empty window pane
Listening for the secret, searching for the sound
But I could only hear the preacher and the baying of his hounds"
- Grateful Dead, 'Unbroken Chain (http://www.whitegum.com/introjs.htm?/songfile/UNBROKEN.HTM)'. Sorry, couldn't resist :D

Plasma torch, ninja sword, angle grinder.
Or standard chain tool.
