Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Hello from Oregon!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am new to all of this, my hubby known as Hill-pumper introduced me to this forum. He has been biking for sometime now and has lost weight and in much better healthy state. He has inspired me to do the same. We just got me a bike last Friday and Saturday was the first time I've rode in nearly 20 plus years. Once you've ridden, you really don't forget it. Riding is something I think I'll enjoy! I am interested in family fun rides and possibly future charity rides. I am an Athena just getting started, I've been overweight most of my life. I did get down to 164lbs. once so I know I can do it. I want to be there again, to be a more happier, healthy me, not just for me but also for my family. My family has history of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholestrol, and hypothyroidism. Scary isn't it, I realize I'm not the only one out there with these or worse problems to face, so just trying to live a healthier life style is what I need. I'll be looking forward to get to know you and have a great day!

Hi Mrs HP....welcome to our little forum...Have fun riding and don't get discouraged, this is a marathon, not a sprint! (I have to keep reminding myself of that)

Jeez, your hubby didn't even tell you that you have to post pics of your bike if you mention that you got a new bike? It's the bf.net rules! You should let all the air out of his tires and put crisco on the handlebars.
Welcome!

Welcome, Enjoy your time on your bike ( the more you ride, the more you want to ride, the more you ride.....)
Welcome to the forum, and to the obsession!

All good reasons to reasons to get out and ride. Just remember...the main goal is to have fun. The lower cholesterol, decrease in BP, and loss of weight are side benefits!

Hold on s second, you'll find the pictures that I posted LAST WEEK HERE (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=569034) before she even became a member. So, don't go giving her any ideas about crisco or letting air out of my tires yet.
So, :welcome, my dear. I'm sure these guys and gals will take good care of you. Hold on, does this mean we have to share the computer now.:innocent:
Welcome! It's great that you're joining in the hobby/sport with your SO. I've been working on my husband for a year and he's finally buying in. Won't be long until I'm no longer having to softpedal to ride with him.
