I am tried of my same ole boring loop here at the coast. Anyone know of an organized metric ride that is not too torturous? Anywhere in NC is fine.

Thanks,
Richard

Its short notice, but NC Bikefest is in Hillsborough, NC this Saturday, Aug. 8, and they have a nice metric option with rolling hills. www.tarwheels.org/bikefest (http://www.tarwheels.org/bikefest)

The Hillsborough event is very nice. Nicely organized and, a good route - though last year some of the roads close to town were a bit rough. The Blue Ridge Brutal is also coming up the middle of this month and, while its a tuffy there are shorter route options this year. Tour de Gaps comes up at the end of the month. I have ridden enough events in NC to feel confident in telling you, there is nothing that compares to the mountain events here. They are scenic, the routes are generally superb and the events well supported - not to mention temperatures are often much cooler.

Thanks for the replies guys. The Hillsborough event is closed. Oh well.

I have done some mountain events, but just not up for a century in the mountain right now. I will check out blueridge brutal and tour de gaps.

Thanks again,
Richard

Cool, maybe we'll see you up there. I'm still on the fence about doing this one.

I will be the lanky guy on a red and carbon serotta. Or you can just look for the guy getting dropped.
