This bike is just too big and it is time to move on. Hopefully, I can figure out how to attach pictures.

The problem is, I THINK I have more money in it than I can hope to recoup. My wife tells me I have nearly $500 in it. Although she is better at that sort of thing than I am, I think I have between $3-$400 in it. I put that kind of money in it thinking I would be able to ride it. I would have done things differently had I known I was going to sell it.

Anyway, the bike has new Continental Gatorskins, new cables, housing and bar tape. The LBS replaced the headset, serviced the bottom bracket and hubs. They also put on a new cassette and chain. I completely stripped the bike to the frame, cleaned everything up, lubed it and put it back together.

My question is, would you guys think I am on crack if I were to CL this thing for $300? My other option is to give it to my future son in law who does fit the bike.

Edit: I suppose I should say it is a Nishiki Altron 7000 with SunTour 9000 components. Going by T-Mar's thread, I think it is a 1987.

Easy for me to say, but give it to your son in law if he is worthy. Good karma will come to you.

It would be very difficult to get $300 for that bike here. At about that pricepoint, buyers expect to see brifters rather than DT shifters. Should be able to get $225 to $250 for it, but it would take a while.

I would be tempted to swap out the tires and any other non-stock goodies you want to keep.

Will giving it away be a safer bet than telling your wife you lost $300?

She is the one who suggested giving it to him so, probably.
