If I pick up my front wheels up 1-2" off the ground and drop it, I can hear this clinging sound coming from the wheel. It sounds as if a spoke is loose or something. Is that really the case? Is this clinging sound normal? (I don't recall hearing it when I first bought the bike) How can I be certain what's wrong with the wheel?

check the cones on the hub maybe loosen.does the wheel move back and forward when you push on it ?

Easy to check if a spoke is loose. Starting after the valve (so you know when you've tried them all), tap each spoke sharply with a ballpoint pen. They should make a ringing noise, which should be at roughly the same musical pitch. If a spoke sounds dull, you may need to tighten it up. Don't do this yourself with the tyre on, because it may cause the end of the spoke to protrude inside the rim, where it may puncture the tyre. Better to entrust this to the LBS, as they have a wheel trueing jig.
