Would a old suzue hub be a good canidate for a wheel build. (old one from 27'' race wheel.)

I used at least one set of suzue hubs a long time ago in 27" wheel times and recall them to be decent quality inexpensive hubs. Are the races in good shape? Replacement cones should be available, if needed.

I lost the bearing cover. and don;t know what size balls they take. maybe ill take a photo.

Rigida blue labels... they are double walled and eyeletted and the rims are Maillard.
The tires are Avocet TT30's (27 by 7/8 0r 630:20) which are considered to be the best 27 inch racing tyre ever made and their performance is comparable to tubulars.
I will probably re-lace the wheels to some Campy hubs I have as although the Maillard hubs are nice, the Campy hubs are better and will also go with the other Campy bits on my bike.

My comment was based, of course, on tubulars never being 27", and back in the day of 27" wheels being predominant in the U.S. on all but higher end road bikes, tubulars were the true race wheels (and still are for that matter). And again, they were never 27" size.
Also, please keep the context of my original response in mind. I'm not trying to be hard to get along with, just trying to point out that a 27" rim laced to a Suzue hub is not a racing wheel. I've got just such wheels in my basement, they're perfectly functional for what they're intended.

They are race wheels, the rim is so narrow. Maybe even more narrow then the ones in the photo. I might go with a solid axle, I like them.
