Mountain Biking - Difference between Time pedals...roc

I probably don't need new pedals, but it's always nice to look. I was looking at Time's website and noticed they added the ROC. They appear to be cheaper then their standard line.

Does anyone know what they are intended for? Is it just a downmarket version of their current lineup, or a heavier, tougher version?

Is there any difference in the construction? I read that the ROC's have rounded bars, would this be viewed as a benefit?

Yea I am not sure...I just picked up a set because all my LBS had was the ROC and the Alium and I find the Alium to not be the easiest in and out...my XE are much easier so for the new F5 I wanted something better than the Alium.

I don't have any miles on them yea but they are a new composite body line...and have adjustable tension. I think they are meant to fill the gap between the $80 Alium and $200 XS pedals but I am not sure. Also don't know yet if the round bars are a good thing or bad...Alium are round and the XE (and the XS line) are boxy. I will try to give a ride report in a few days.

I"ve used nothing but TIME pedals on my mountain bike for years and they are the best pedals on the market I think. Tried several other types and none compare to TIME IMO. Those ROC's look kickass to me, I'd jump on them if I were you.

Ok so I took a quick spin tonight and as I expected I would slate these between the Alium and the XS lines. They are easier to clip into than the Alium but not as easy as the XS. They do have adjustable spring tension which is nice. I have been riding ATAC since they first came out when Johnny Tomac was ruling the XC sceen in the 90s and I agree that they are the best MTB pedal out there.

Thanks for the update...the Alium has been a great pedal to me. I have used them for the past seven years of hard riding. I have convinced friends to buy into the Alium.

The other day I decided it was time to start looking at pedals, I put a bid in on eBay but lost. Maybe I should just stick with the Alium, after all, it hasn't let me down.

The ROC is $64.57 (pricing as of time of port), you have to add the item to your shopping cart to get the actual non VAT price. I have ordered from Ribble several times, they are a good dealer.

I had an olllld set of Aliums and wanted to get something newer, but I was turned off by the high cost of the fancier ATAC pedals - I got the ROCs from a UK website for around $70 and I'm very happy with them. I haven't bashed them on any huge rocks at high speed yet, so I can't comment on durability, but so far so good.
