Commuting - Losing 10 miles

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
At the end of August I'll be moving ten miles closer to work, ahhh. I'll miss those 10 miles of commuting, but will be glad to get home sooner in the colder weather.
I'll be 5 blocks from the Greenway, in the "Uptown" area of Minneapolis, where bike culture reigns.

I know I'll miss your "dead of winter" 20+ mile commute reports, naisme! But I am sure it must be a good feeling to know that the 10 mile shorter commute opens other options. (well, I guess it would) extra miles elsewhere for fun etc...
Let us know how the new place pans out.

Welcome to the neighborhood - I'm not quite in Uptown, but with the way that it's spreading, it will engulf my building soon. I'm about 2 blocks from the Nicolette entrance to the greenway...
Cool,
I am looking forward to the move, and the ability to ride those extra miles for fun. I know I'm not going to loose 10 miles, I'll find a way to make up for the loss. What will be fun is I'll miss the 10 miles that are not dedicated bike paths, and the traffic. I can hop on the Greenway and ride almost all the way to work via bike paths.

Moving closer can only be a good thing! On the days you can't be bothered you only have 10 miles to go. On the days you can be bothered you can cycle half way there, then back, then all the way there! ;)
