According to the Fat Cyclist blog, Susan, the blogger's wife and inspiration for a massive grassroots fundraising drive for cancer awareness and research, died this evening.

Even though it's too small for me now, I think I'm going to wear the "Winning for Susan" Fat Cyclist jersey when I ride tomorrow. My condolences to "Fat Cyclist" Eldon Nelson and his family and friends for their loss.

Terrible. Cancer is a SOB, it just sneaks up on people and takes their lives.

Indeed very sad. I know he devoted everything to her, and its going to be a lonely path for a while. My prayers and condolences go out to him and his family for thier loss. I have had cancer strike all around me, to family and friends but my wife and I have seemed to stave it off, but it, the disease is a bastard and can and will strike when least expected.

Cancer took my mother and my grandmother, I hate the disease and all that it does to people. To see my mother slowly wither away, have her strength sapped, the light dimmed was not fun. To see her pass aged only 56 (I was 30) to me felt wrong.

My condolences go to fat cyclist.

Yeah, that was not the post I wanted to see on his blog when I fired up my computer at work this morning. I was turned on to his blog by a post I read here on BF and I've been reading his posts ever since. I, along with about at least 1,000 people (literally) have posted condolences on his blog. Very sad news indeed. Puts some perspective on things...

So sad. What an inspiration she has been! Susan is a real winner in every sense of the word.
Heartfelt condolences to Fatty and family.
