well first thigns first if you ride flatland and arnt lookign for much show then a one peace will do you fine, but if you have to put any strain on your crank and dont want to shell out 15-20 bucks everytime you ride spend a lil money maybe buy something slightly used of a buddy and get a three peace tubular is better than forged but o well have fun and uh yeah.
Yes. I you do get 3-peice try to get tubular instead of forged. Look at the Redline Proline 3-Piece Cranks. I have been told they are preety good for the price you pay.

yup, Redline Proline 3 pc crank is the BEST and STRONGEST! hey, I have my Redline proline 3 pc crank since 8 months has nothing wrong with it like no bend or no lose come off or crack. very stiff! anyway, it's cheaper one you can affort one those crank better than 1 pc crank! you know Proflie SS 3 pc crank is too rip off the price $+200! so Redline proline is only price $110-$120, cheap! hey, Profile SS and Redline proline are same strong crank but Profile SS' weight is too heavy a bit than Redline proline!
