He's too young to die, or you're too young to remember his movies?

John Hughes (director of Pretty in Pink) is no longer with us.

Here's one of Duckie's dance scenes that I liked.

Duckie has plowed off this mortal coil? Did Blaine off him? BTW, Blaine is not a person's name, it is a name for a major appliance.

Man, I crushed on Molly hard in the 80's. And I dressed like Duckie, even though I had the build of a middle linebacker or defensive end.

I always thought the Duckie character was cool. But, alas, I had a crush on Andrew McCarthy. Disliked the Blain character, yuck.

I'm trying to decide what I think about this; afaik Hughes was the one who finally trapped teenage culture and defined it into his movies, which basically killed radio (freeform am/fm stations confused the suits writing the checks but they were happy with whatever the djs did 'cause the $$ kept coming in; now all stations programmed from Dallas through Clear Channel presumably to suit the soundtrack of some John Cusack movie), steered everyone into shopping malls, and retroactively pushed it all onto the 70s too (that 70s show style).

Was absolutely gutted to hear of John Hughes' passing yesterday. Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Great Outdoors and Uncle Buck are in my top movies of all time. He also had a hand in the National Lampoon movies too (the ones that were good, unsurprisingly).

Thanks for the laughs, John.

RIP
