Starting this Fall (Sept. 15), I'm going to start commuting to work from my home near downtown Phoenix to Bell Rd/29th Av (near I-17 Fwy). I can start any time between 6 AM to 6:30 AM arriving at Bell Rd between 7:30 to 8:00 AM. I'm following the bike path on 15th Av. (23rd Ave also possible), then the Arizona Canal Bike Path to Metro Center and the last section is on 31st Av and 29th Ave north to Bell Rd. I have a detailed e-map of this route. Total miles: 14 miles one way. I ride a hybrid commuter bike with panniers at a comfortable pace of 12-15 miles/hour. I've done this route quite a few times. In the beginning, my plan is to ride twice a week (Tues. & Fridays) and hopefully increase to more frequent rides by late winter.
