How many miles of running would you say 66miles of biking feels like?

I could do 200 miles on my bike and not feel the same as after any sort of run, just totally different things, muscles, breathing patterns, everything.

well just remember in the ironman you bike 112 miles and then run 26.2

Apples and wingnuts, very difficult to compare. 66 miles solo or in a large group ? Medium hard ride of 66 miles would for me compare to perhaps 12 miles at a decent, but not very fast pace.

Alright.. 12 miles seems about right. The Iron man is nuts.. 112miles on a bike then run a marathon? Sick

really no comparison but i would say a half marathon give or take. 12-14 maybe. i could ride 66 miles in zone 3-4 and be ready for another. i probably couldn't run 12 miles at that same intensity and be ready for another round.

Having done an IM, and still training for another, I will tell you that 66 miles biking is not nearly as hard on your body as 12-14 miles running. I would rather go do a century ride than run 10 miles, even.

Running beats up your body with constant impacts, while riding is a smooth, non-impact exercise (assuming we are talking road riding, not MTB'ing.)

However, for the cardio impact, if you were pedaling hard those entire 66 miles, then yes, running 12-14 miles is about the equivalent amount of calories burned/cardio work

I'm still looking for an IM that has a 2.4mile swim, 112 mile bicycle ride and a 1 mile fun run.

Many events do 'aquabikes', which are just the swim and the bike, no running involved.
