BMX - Adult sized play bike

Here is the deal, stopped past the local Haro dealer today and apparently adults do not ride bmx/trick bikes. I'm 5 11 and do not fit on the F2 or X2. $300 is the budget and I was sorely dissapointed when I rode the bike. Too small. Feet hit, crammed, you name it. Bike shop is not to blame. NO one does half pipe around here. What should i be looking for. I would like to quit tearing up my mtb, I need a cheap simple bike to thrash and crash.

You should look into a 21" frame if you feel cramped. Also doing some adjustments on the bike should help as well. You don't have to slam your seat. For example longer stem, possibly longer cranks like 180 if it doesn't already have it. What do you mean you feet hit? The ground?

My heels were hitting the rear pegs and the front tire. Big feet.

Thanks for the suggestion, is the 24" wheel set what I'm going to be seeing alot of for what I'm wanting? 20" just seems right.

Unless you are grinding take the pegs off. I honestly think 24" ride completely different. If you like 20" go for that. You are about only 4" taller than me and I ride a 20.5" and think it is a perfect length, so if you go for a 21" or 20.75" TT you would probably feel more comfortable. I have a 6ft friend that wears size 14 shoes ride a 18" for the longest time but then again it is all about preference.

Nothing that is full chromoly. Which is something you should get.

39 yrs old, 6ft tall.
Personally, I love the way my bike rides & fits. Sunday Funday! w/ 21"TT. 180 cranks, 8"tall bars, cut to 26" wide.
As far as your feet hitting, well that's gonna happen. Occasionally my heel clips the rear peg (Size 10 shoe, short chainstays) but you learn to place your feet on the pedals to avoid that. I've never had my feet buzz the front tire on a 20" bike, again you likely just need to learn to sync your pedaling with your turning. For example: turning left? then your right foot should be towards the back of the bike. Just like when you lean into a turn, you raise that pedal to avoid pedal strike.
So look for a bike w/ a longer TT and just spend some time riding. You'll figure it out.
Also, most cheaper bikes are simply shorter. (20"-20.75"tt) to get a 21"tt on a complete, you usually are looking at $500+ bikes.

The fuse one will be as small as the haro, and made out of materials that will bend so fast learning any tricks, or bailing a bit.

Any recommendations for one new under $300? With what you intend to do it would be a waste of $ IMO. You get what you pay for holds true with BMX completes.

Dan's has it for $369, but I find this shop to be very knowledgeable and friendly. They may match the low price. For a Sanko tubed frame this would be a steal.


to get a 21"tt on a complete, you usually are looking at $500+ bikes. Interesting. Never noticed this as I have been looking for a nice 20.75 (.8) complete. there are many others....bmx bikes are mainly to pull tricks, not really for riding long distances, even though I have riden 20+ miles and have no complaints....and age does not matter dennis mccoy competed at 40............even though you might not become a pro, you can still have fun on the bike, just remember you do not get paid to ride one so don't kill yourself on the bike.
