Hi all,

I found this bike out in my yard a few months ago and am looking at it sitting in my garage and thinking I had better do something about it. It was painted over so I don't know much about the frame other than it is quite light.

Things I have IDed, see if they mean anything:

K2 on the front under handle bars, so I'm assuming K2 frame
Sam Marco Seat
RST 281 R fork
TD Pro Drive System
Crank says "Fluid Drive" on it
Tioga Alchemy headset
As fore tires, the front one is an Innova and the back a Kena

Also attached is a picture. Basically what I'm trying to find out is whether or not this bike is worth putting some bucks into making it ridable. I know for sure I don't want to do it if its like Walmart junk which is what I'm trying to find out. Like I said it is light, maybe the picture might help.

You found that bike in your yard?
It being light doesnt mean much.
Personally i wouldnt go riding it if its been painted over and you found it i would assume its "HOT"

Late 90's K2 Zed? I would first check with your local police department to make sure it is not stolen.

Yeah, I wasn't really sure what do to with it, but you've convinced me. I can't seem to find a serial number anywhere and I'm not sure what exactly to report? Red bike, K2 late 90s no serial?

Still curious whether the bike is worth it. Wouldn't ride it becuase of possible theft stuff and there are no breaks, but other than that?

Doesn't look worth it, especially when you consider the work that would be needed to get it rideable/enjoyable. Have you weighed it yet? If you want to put some money into something, you'd probably be better off buying a frame (whos origin you know) and building that up. The bike in the pic doesn't even have a rear brake. While you could ride it as a commuter, you'd have to put so much money into it to make it trail worthy as a mountain bike that you would have been much better off buying something new or upgrading your current ride.
