I've been seeing (for the first time this year) painted green circle/arrow markings on assorted roads in the Nassau Country, 5 Towns area, including Hewlett Harbor, Lynbrook, Hewlett Bay Park, etc... including on Union Ave, in S Lynbrook as well as Everit and Meadowview Ave.
Anybody got any idea as to whose markings ?, is it a route ?, is there a cue sheet associated ?.
Thanks in advance
Steve B.

I have seen the same green symbol on Lido Blvd in Long Beach on the westbound side of the street. The symbol is a circle with an arrow. It definitely seems to indicate a route as there are several with the arrow pointing straight ahead and then I come across one at an intersection that indicates a left turn. I have not followed it to see where it goes.
I have no idea what it is for.

Well, no - never bothered
It's a green circle, about 9 or so inches in diameter, not solid in the center, with a directional arrow off one quadrant, pointing straight, right, left etc.... It's done with a stencil and is similar to those seen on Tour of the Hamptons, etc...

Follow them and see where they take you. May seem like a silly suggestion, but ...

Plan to eventually.
I live in Freeport, so some of these roads are in my regular riding area or my bike commute to/from work, and I see them (markings) on roads that sometimes seem to follow a pattern, then I discover a marking somewhere where I wouldn't expect it, like Flatties seeing them in Long Beach.
I see a lot of roadies in the 5 towns area - it's a pretty area to ride in, and I know there's a Massapequa Park BC member in Lynbrook, as well as 2 MARS (Recumbent group) members in the area, so was wondering if any of them placed the route.
Mystery route stays a mystery for now

I saw them yesterday on Lido Blvd, turning left onto Greenway to Maple to East Broadway. I turn off though to get on Shore so that's as far as I followed them.

I say the mark on the east bound side of Lido Blvd yesterday just east of Maple Drive. I was not paying too much attention but I did not see it again and I rode to Pt Lookout. I suspect it leads you to the park at the very end of Lido Blvd in Pt Lookout but I take the first right upon entering Pt Lookout so I can go by the beach.
I also saw the marking on Long Beach Rd in Island Park yesterday. I am getting real curious. I may have to follow this thing and see where it leads me. Unfortunately the one in Island Park indicated following Long Beach Rd - where Austin Blvd and Long Beach Rd merge coming from the Long Beach direction.
Riding on (Austin Blvd in Island Park and then Long Beach Rd in Oceanside) is akin to russian roulette so I may have to skip that part of it or see if I can pick it up further along Long Beach Rd - I will check by the Sands Shopping Center to see if there's a mark there to take you over to Oceanside Rd which would be marginally better than Long Beach Rd.
I try to minimize any time spent on Long Beach Rd - I usually take Daly Blvd up to Lawson which runs parallel to Long Beach Rd...
