... my 7 year old son and I were in the Pine Ridge area in NW Nebraska again today ;)

we get up a ridge. roots, rocks little washes. steep but not overly...
.
about halfway down I let son go ahead so I can watch him...
.
he either panics or forgets his brakes (riding my 30 year old Schwinn BMX bike)...
.
hits the aforementioned roots goes airborne!!! but keeps his feet on the pedals and butt back... lands and rides it out only to crash at the bottom in some rainstorm debris (pine needles and super soft silty stuff)...
.
he jumps up a little freeked out I am hooting and hollering about how kick ass that was and he is just starts beaming from ear to ear...
.
he was so proud of his first "downhill mountain bike crash" GOD I WISH I HAD A helmet cam...
.
BTW I bought him a 24" Fuji boys mtb just have to go pick it up...
